Insured, dockside

We work at the marina.

Palmetto is insured to work at Safe Harbor and Thunderbolt, and we come to the boat across the island marinas, Harbour Town, Palmetto Bay, Skull Creek and the Bluffton docks. Most jobs are templated at the slip and fitted back on the boat, so you are not trailering a hull to a workroom or losing a season to it.

How a dockside job runs

How marine upholstery works on Hilton Head.

From the slip and back, most jobs template and fit on the boat without a haul-out.

Step 01

Send photos, or meet at the boat

Photos of the seating and the marina, or we meet you at the slip. An honest read comes back on what needs rebuilding and what can be repaired.

Step 02

Templated dockside

We template the salon, helm or cushions on the boat, pick the vinyl and Sunbrella, and agree cost and timeline before anything comes off.

Step 03

Sewn at Arrow Rd

The work is cut and sewn in the Hilton Head workroom in Grade-A marine materials, then checked against the template.

Step 04

Fitted back on the boat

We fit it back at the slip and check it in place. Insured on site at Safe Harbor and Thunderbolt, so the boat stays where it is.

The island workroom

Where the island's bench is.

On Arrow Rd, mid-island, minutes from the Palmetto Bay and Broad Creek marinas. We come to your slip, or you can visit the workroom.

Boat-owner questions

Asked at the dock.

If yours is not here, call the workroom or put it in the estimate form.

Do you come to the boat, or do I bring it to you?

We come to the boat. Templating and fitting happen at the slip, and the sewing is done at the Arrow Rd workroom. No trailering or hauling out.

Which Hilton Head marinas can you work at?

We are insured to work at Safe Harbor and Thunderbolt, and we cover Harbour Town, Palmetto Bay, Skull Creek, Broad Creek and the Bluffton docks. If your marina is not listed, ask.

What material do you use on marine seating?

Grade-A marine vinyl over quick-dry foam for seating, and Sunbrella for canvas and covers. Both hold up to island sun, salt and damp far better than standard upholstery material.

Can you repair torn vinyl instead of replacing everything?

Often, yes. Cracked seams and worn panels can be patched or swapped without redoing the whole set. We will tell you at the slip whether repair or rebuild is the better spend.

How long does a marine job take?

Most jobs run 1 to 2 weeks once material lands, longer in busy season, and we say so before you commit. We template first so the boat is only out of use for the fitting.
