About
About Palmetto Upholstery & Fabric, a Lowcountry workroom since 2004
Old workroom, new chapter.
Palmetto has been rebuilding the Lowcountry's furniture for 2 decades. In 2025 the shop changed hands, and what was 1 workroom on Hilton Head is now 3 along the coast.
2 decades, 3 chapters
How we got here.
It starts on Hilton Head
1 workroom on the island, doing residential reupholstery for people who would rather fix a good frame than replace it. Word travelled the way it does in a small place, and the shop built a reputation for craftsmanship across the Lowcountry.
New hands, same bench
David Quintanilla and Cameron McLemore took ownership, bringing a renewed focus on white glove service and an uncompromising eye for quality. The trade work grew quickly, and so did the map.
3 workrooms, 1 coast
Hilton Head, Charleston and Myrtle Beach, each with a full workroom on site. We take work from Tybee Island and Jacksonville in the south, north through Greenville, and as far as Charlotte, alongside designers across the greater South Carolina area.
Ownership
The 2 people who signed for it.
Both owners are in the workrooms, not above them. Estimates and problems reach them directly.
David Quintanilla
Runs the trade side of the business, from COM handling and yardage through the white glove van schedule across the coast.
Cameron McLemore
Handles commercial and hospitality work, from property surveys and brand-standard specs through staggered install.
Inside the workroom
Where it actually happens.
Every workroom is fully equipped and on site. Nothing is sent out, and nothing is finished anywhere you cannot come and see it.
What comes through the door
4 kinds of work.
1 bench, 4 disciplines. The frame decides the method, not the room it came from.
Homes and heirlooms
Sofas, armchairs, recliners, ottomans, benches, slipcovers and window seat cushions. Stripped to the frame, re-webbed, and rebuilt.
Boats and yachts
Salon seating, helm and cockpit cushions in marine vinyl, templated and fitted where the boat sits.
Hotels and restaurants
Guest rooms, lobby and lounge seating, restaurant booths. Scheduled in stages so the property never closes.
Fabric and foam
Chenille, wool, linen, silk, mohair and velvet, by the yard or the bolt. Custom foam inserts cut in a day.
Workrooms, 3 coastal cities
Where the benches are.
Hilton Head is a workroom and a showroom. Charleston and Myrtle Beach run by appointment, so call ahead before you drive out.
