The workroom the Lowcountry brings its heirlooms to.

The leather workroom

Leather reupholstery, done properly.

Twenty-two years of leather work across the Lowcountry. From full-grain aniline to marine-grade vinyl, we source, cut, and hand-stitch every hide in-house.

When you bring us a leather piece, the same craftsman sees it from estimate to delivery. No sub-workrooms, no chain-of-vendor guessing games about condition or finish.

Sofa reupholstery in leather is our most-requested service — full-grain, top-grain, and bonded all handled with the right technique per hide.

Frequently asked, reupholstery

Answers before you ask.

Common questions from the last two decades of estimates. Not seeing yours? Call 843 785 4002 — same-day reply.

Is it cheaper to reupholster or buy new?

Usually reupholstery costs 40–60% of buying a comparable new piece — sometimes less on antiques where the frame is already worth more than the labour. Where it pays off most is on well-built furniture (solid hardwood frames, eight-way tied springs). We'll tell you honestly if a piece is not worth saving.

How long does reupholstery take?

One to two weeks for most single pieces. Larger jobs — full sofas, sets of six or more dining chairs, hospitality refurbs — usually two to four weeks depending on fabric lead time. Timeline is quoted up front, not later.

Can any piece be reupholstered?

Almost. If the frame is solid wood and the joints are salvageable, yes. We say no to pieces where the frame is particleboard glued together, because the labour cost would exceed a replacement. We tell you at the estimate stage.

How much fabric or leather do I need?

Rough guide: a dining chair takes 1 yard, an armchair 5–7 yards, a three-seat sofa 14–18 yards, a sectional 22+ yards. Leather is measured in hides — a chair takes about half a hide, a sofa two to three. We size it exactly at the estimate.

What if my piece needs new springs or foam too?

That is priced into the quote. Spring re-tie, replacement, or full eight-way hand-tie is done at our workroom. Foam is density-graded to the piece — no one-size cushion inserts. Everything happens in the atelier so you get one contact, one bill, one warranty.

Do you pick up and deliver?

Yes. Pickup and white-glove delivery across South Carolina, coastal Georgia, and North Carolina. Charleston, Hilton Head, and Myrtle Beach are on our weekly route. Further afield quoted per trip.
